The Southern Express Band is a six-piece group that delivers a diverse musical experience, blending classic 80s and 90s country, rock, rockabilly, and original tunes. With each member boasting at least 40 years of professional experience, the band features seasoned musicians: Ted Harris (vocals/guitar), John Bean (vocals/keys), Laura Starnes (vocals/aux percussion), Don Ralph (drums), Garry Shriver (lead guitar), and Carl Johnson (bass).
They have played throughout the Southeast, from Beale Street to Graceland in Memphis, and in cities like Hot Springs, Little Rock, Tupelo, Jackson, Shreveport, and Nashville.
The Southern Express Band was formed from the merger of two previous bands. Their roots trace back to 2003 with the EP Express Band, later renamed the Express Band in 2008, which played classic rock and country along with Elvis Presley tributes. In 2010, they incorporated members from the Southern Bred Band, originally formed in 1989, to focus on traditional country music. Today, they combine the best of both bands, offering a rich blend of musical genres as The Southern Express Band.
