Thank you to everyone who came out to the 2009 Delta Fair & Music Festival! We had another great year with a record 240,000 people attending! Special thanks to our Clean Team and the volunteers from Clean Memphis keeping the fair grounds at the Agricenter clean and green all 10 days. Special thanks also to our Memphis and Shelby county officers for keeping us all safe again this year.

Many of you enjoyed the addition of our Delta Livestock Show! This provided an opportunity for individuals across the Mid-South to compete in our Livestock Shows, FFA , 4-H and Skills contests and exhibits. Competitions included Jr. Heifer Show, Breeding Sheep Show, Market Lambs and Commercial Ewes. The Livestock Area also devoted an entire day to Goat shows and exhibits. THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS of premium money and prizes were presented to deserving individuals! This will return in 2010 and will be expanded to include even more competitions – thank you to Faye Hooker and her team for the great job they did!

Our Crafts, Culinary & Collectibles competitions were a HUGE HIT again this year! Director Jan Hamilton and her team of 241 Cracker Jack Volunteers tripled their entries this year and packed out the D Wing of the Agricenter with some of the most delicious, interesting and creative exhibits and works of art in the Mid-South! Tripling entries in only 1 year, they added a photography contest with 354 entries. Culinary contests had 454 entries with Lisa Crawford Tracy taking the 2009 Best Cook award and winning $1021 for culinary entries. We were thrilled with our Music Line-up this year with world class artists like Vince Gill, Boys Like Girls, Eddie Money, Jason Michael Carroll, Paul Thorn, The Bellamy Brothers, Jason D. Williams, Nanci Griffith, Rodney Crowell and many others! Special thanks to Keith Sykes for putting together another world class event this year – the Keith Sykes Songwriter Celebration – the music jewel of the fair! A special thank you to our personal favorites – all the local and regional bands, singer songwriters, musicians, dancers and choirs that make us the biggest and most diverse music festival in the Mid-South!
